ANASTASIA YOUNG MA(RCA)

Anastasia Young is a Birmingham-based jewellery artist, author and lecturer, whose work has been exhibited internationally. Young’s eclectic jewellery is often project based and driven by a combination of ideas and technical investigation; she uses narrative to explore both the design of a piece and its display when not being worn. Examples of her work are held in the permanent collections of the Science Museum, London and Central Saint Martins Museum.

Anastasia is a graduate of Central Saint Martins College, where she lectured on the BA Jewellery course and taught Short Courses for two decades; she has a Master’s degree from the Royal College of Art in London. Anastasia is currently teaching on the BA Jewellery and Objects at the School of Jewellery, Birmingham City University.

She is the author of four technical jewellery books - New Jewellery Techniques (Hoaki, 2022), The Workbench Guide to Jewelry Techniques (Thames & Hudson, 2010), Gemstone Settings and The Jewellery Materials Sourcebook (both A&C Black) which have been translated into seven languages, and are considered key texts in their subject.

Anastasia Young is well known internationally as an educator through her teaching and writing over the last twenty years and has taught jewellery classes as far afield as Chile, in affiliation with the British Council. She also sits on the board of The Association for Contemporary Jewellery, which promotes contemporary jewellery in the UK through exhibitions, conferences and publications.
