Biography

ANASTASIA YOUNG MA (RCA)

Concentrating on one-off and exhibition pieces, Anastasia Young produces intricate and unusual jewellery, which combines metal mechanical components with 'found' natural objects - bone, horn, teeth and ebony. The pieces are often embellished with engraving and precious stones.

Having graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2004, Anastasia established as a sole trader and has been making jewellery and teaching jewellery-making for Artscom @ Central Saint Martins (the adult education division of the University of Arts London) where she also lectures on the BA Jewellery Design course.

Other projects she has worked on include a consultancy for Swarovski, a commission for the British Art Medal Society, a solo exhibition of boxed installations under the title 'Experiments from the Spiders' Laboratory'.

Anastasia Young is also the author of two technical jewellery books:

'The Jewellery Materials Sourcebook' (A & C Black, 2008)

'The Workbench Guide to Jewelry Techniques' (Thames & Hudson, 2010).
